Bertie was recently moved from the hospital in Clearwater, Florida, to the Howard County General Hospital in Columbia, Maryland, U.S.A. Then, he was transferred from Howard County General, to the Gilchrist Palliative Care hospital, also in Columbia, Maryland.
Upon hearing this, and knowing that 'Palliative Care' is also termed 'End of Life Care', suggesting that his demise could be imminent, Arthur Small and I immediately decided to embark on the very, very, long road trip from Toronto, to visit with Bertie at the Palliative Care facility, in Columbia, Maryland.
We found Bertie in a comatose state, totally oblivious to everything and everyone around him, and under the constant 24/7 care of one of his daughters and an assigned nurse.
I was so distraught and overcome by the sight that confronted us there, on his hospital bed, that I had to leave his private ward. Bertie has reduced to a hapless shell of the Mausica brother, that we knew.
His attending nurse said that Bertie was going through his final stages and his body was slowly 'shutting down'. Her duty and focus were on achieving comfort and relieving and preventing his suffering.
Your continued prayers are still encouraged.

Dear friends, we are sad to report that our dad, Bertie Fraser, passed away on the afternoon of Thursday, September 27th. After a brief but valiant fight, he slipped away peacefully. Thank you all for your prayers, support and well wishes at this time. His spirits were noticeably lifted by all who visited and inquired after his well-being, thank you.
