Happy New Year Greetings!
I visited with Mr. Williams at St. A Hospital.
I was ever so relieved that he looked much improved. I got some of the usual sharp comments.

RE: Living the Legacy

2016-DEC-28-1430Hrs
My Fellow Mausicans,
I hope you all had a blessed and enjoyable Holiday and are looking forward to a healthy and prosperous 2017.
As we approach Reunion 2017, several thoughts come to my mind: how are we "Living the Legacy",  what is Mausica's Legacy?
Today, I shared one of my thoughts with Brother Efebo. What would it take to have a Mausica Teachers' College Day in TNT?
Efebo expanded the idea to include all teachers. He suggested that we approach TUTA. His plate is full of activities at this time?
Can the planning committee and other volunteers explore the possibility of having a National Teachers Day that would recognize the contributions of all teachers to the success of our country?
On another note. I know that our DJ, Alisford,  and his son are selecting the tunes to have us dancing and singing, and falling in love again. In 2013, they gave us "Samba Pa Ti". In 2017, I am requesting two tunes:"Brias del Zulia" a castillian and "Air on A G String", a Sel Duncan bolero.
So my friends, start practising. Let's keep constructing the Mausica Legacy.
A Mausican Sistah, Annette Phillip, just called. She is visiting her son in Stone Mountain, GA. Just about 400 yards from my home.
See you later.
As usual,
Rodney Foster 66-68.

RE: Season's Greetings

2016-DEC-20-1950Hrs
My Fellow Mausicans,
May you all have a blessed and enjoyable Christmas.
This is a nostalgic time for me. There is nothing like a Trini Christmas. On Sunday, my fellow Mausican brother, Alan Simpson,  and I were present at the TNT Association of Georgia Christmas  party. There was good food, drinks and authentic Parang music provided by " D Parang Side".  The party was a good start for this joyous season.
If yuh see Alan shaking chac-chac. De man hands bend up like ah true-true Parandero. Grande boy good, boy. Carl Savary brother was on drums, Ruthven Le Quay was on guitar, Ulric Butcher on cuatro, Cheryl Charles, vocalist. There were a few others whose names I cannot recall.
By the way,  Savary's brother informed me that Carl had died about nine months ago. May he rest in peace.
Peace and Love.
As usual.

RE: The passing of Ruthven Perryman

2016-DEC-09-1714Hrs
I received a call at about 7.00am on the morning of Ruthven Perryman's passing. Having been abroad I did not know of his recent hospitalization. However, this is my simple tribute to a friend who was almost family to me.
I met Ruthven at Tunapuna EC school,so that primary schoolmates we were. He transferred out of EC, but we met in POS in the hustle for transport home. He attended St. Mary's and I was a Bishop Anstey. The interaction did not end there since Tunapuna was a lively place and the teenage parties were aplenty. At Mausica he was Second Year to me and later on we were George Street neighbours: he was at Eastern Boys Govt and I at South East POS Govt Secondary. When SEPOS needed support,  Ruthven was at Eastern for us. As a matter of fact, my venture into Eastern Boys was on account of Ruthven's presence there.
What makes a friendship surpass all of fifty years?  Some people you meet become only acquaintances.  Not so with Ruthven. I've met few people who could turn your bad day around;  who could make you laugh again; who could convince you that every cloud does have a silver lining;  whose smile you could see from a mile away.
Who could you meet when you migrate from the North Stand to the  Grand Stand for Panorama?  Who would greet you with outstretched arms to take a little wine in the staid Grand stand?  Morever, Ruthven never lost his Tunapuna AC roots.  His best friends number among his Primary school mates, brothers in a word.
In recent years I worked as a CAC monitor and Ruthven and I met frequently on the grounds of St. Xavier's where he sat awaiting Susan.  We talked of grand children and our new focus. " Angela We have to do it."  We met often at the grocery, Curepe or Tunapuna and I even suggested that I give him my grocery list since he seemed to have found new employment.
I offer my condolences to  his Mom, the Perryman and Carnavon families.  I know the kind of family man Ruthven was. I know of his input to nieces and nephews.
This was a man who understood life and lived it to the fullest, always ensuring the comfort and happiness of his fellowman. Rest in peace my brother.

Season's greetings and thanks once again for all you do on keeping us Mausicans connected.
Please allow me to express sincere condolences to the Perryman family and to the Scobie family on the loss of their loved ones. Dale's wife, Ermanda, was also my school mate at secondary school.
I also take this opportunity to express condolences to the the Howe family and the Knight family on the passing of Merle and Prunella respectively. My prayer is that you will find strength, comfort and consolation in Almighty God whose love for us never fails.
I also ask Him to give us all a truly Christ centered Christmas.

RE: Season's Greetings

My Fellow Mausicans,
,
When I visited Mrs. Cuffie during my last visit to Sweet TNT, I promised the Director of Gordon Home, Margaret Baptiste, that I would ask a few of my Mausican singers to spread some Christmas cheer with the staff and residents. Some Parang  and Christmas carols would certainly bring some "Joy To Their World".  Make a stop by Mr. Williams also.
Contact Mrs Baptiste at 628-4670.
Carl Caton, Clive Grell, Alisford, Scratchy, Selwyn Thompson, Joy Reid, Maria  Mora, Progues, Angela Ifill, Barbara Davis, Lynette Thompson,  Marlene Gilbert and all the other Paranderas and Paranderos , let's do it.
In 2013,  we had a wonderful experience at MTC. What a parade of talent!. Let's do it again in 2017..
Our 50th anniversary theme was "Living The Legacy."  What is our vision?
My vision is a Performing Arts Center in the East. The Mausica Teachers Performing Arts Center..  Right there on our 65 acres..
Let's dream big.
Planning Committee, please post invitations to the meetings in the blog.  More hands and minds needed.
As usual,
Rodney Foster 66-68.

Joining us for the first time was Sumatee Tota-Kanhai (whom some of us had not seen since 1965) and her beautiful daughter.
Mark your calendars for next year's dinner - Wednesday 29 November 2017.
