RE: Black History Month

My Fellow Mausicans,

I hope everyone had an enjoyable and insightful “Black History Month”.

MTC provided a well-rounded education. I vividly recall 3 Ps: Psychology, Philosophy and Principles of Education. Was it Mr. Dukhan or Mr. Joseph who asked us to define “Learning” and “Behavior”. They played and expanded our minds. Dukhan defined learning as a “ change in perception” . Then De Joe illustrated the true meaning of behavior. It was heavy stuff to digest. Especially after eating a heavy lunch.

So my mother wasn’t totally correct when she told , “Yuh have no behavior. If  yuh cant hear, yuh will feel.”

Then one day Dukhan asked,  “If a tree fell in the forest, did it make noise?”  If yuh hear debate.

“Wat choopidness dey talkin?”  Empiricism?

At the end of the class, meh good fren, Linda Heywood, asked, “ Mr Dukhan , how come a cow could eat green grass, excrete black droppings and produce white milk?” Yuh talk bout laughter. Dukhan couldn’t answer. Class dismiss.

Today, as a Financial Adviser, majoring in life insurance and retirement planning, I find myself constantly teaching my prospects and clients to change their perceptions of these fundamental financial tools. I now teach in different classrooms. June 1st. will be 37 years.

Sincere condolences to Rudolph Sucre’s family. Muchacho was my friend  and Hostel mate in Sunset Villa, 66=-67. He had a good jab. Once we were about to start a rumble in the foyer. Suddenly, Mr. Williams mysteriously appeared, as was his custom. He didn’t say one word. Fight done. Just so. No second round in the hostel or anywhere in TNT. On one of my visits to TNT , I called and chatted with Muchacho. Rest in Peace, my Mausican Brother.
