"ROLAND SELWYN MAUNDAY EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION AND TRUST Registered Non-Profit Organization
Dear Mausicans,
On behalf of Roland Selwyn Maunday, Chairman and other officers and directors, I am pleased to inform you that the Roland Selwyn Maunday Educational Foundation and Trust is established to foster and promote excellence in technical education and trades by providing grants, scholarships, bursaries and other financial support to individuals and institutions.
Roland Selwyn Maunday developed his own talents and skills in the trades in his youth. He used his abilities to promote the development of youth throughout Trinidad and Tobago in primary and secondary schools and youth trade centres, where he taught subjects related to crafts and trades in metals, woods and local materials. He has a Bachelors’ and Masters’ Degrees from the Stout State University in Wisconsin. He is the first Trinidadian recipient of a US and a national scholarship in technical education. Since then, he has spent his entire life dedicated to the development of teachers and professionals at Mausica Teachers’ College, Port-of-Spain Teachers’ College, John Donaldson Technical Institute and currently at Metal Industries Limited. He is an icon in technical education teacher training. His passion and support for tertiary education in Industrial and Technical Studies have accounted for many graduates from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and other reputable universities. His ground breaking service for Industrial Arts curriculum and resources for Junior and Senior Secondary Schools has survived the test of time with tremendous success. His administrative and examining contributions for CXC in Industrial Arts have set high academic standards in the Caribbean. The dedication he brought to YTEPP has provided skill and life changing experiences to many youths. And as rightly said, legends and saints do not stop, at age 79, he continues as Examination Consultant in the major trades - a teaching career spanning 59 years.
The policy of the Roland Selwyn Maunday Educational Foundation and Trust is to invest the contributions received and to award grants, scholarships, bursaries and other financial support from the reoccurring interest and investments. All contributors will be recognised at the annual awards ceremony.
