RE: Congratulations

2012-Mar-16-0638Hrs
Hi Errol,
Joy Valdez sent congratulations to Vivian and Gemma Nelson for the awards they received for Christian excellence in their field of work which is labour in God's vineyard. I add my compliments to them and may the good work continue. Winston, my husband, is also a recipient of one of the awards for his work in the field of Science. Most of you would not know , but he is a Professor Emeritus at the UWI and he is a Caribbean Icon in Science as well as a Local Preacher in the Methodist Church. The awards given were well deserved by the 50 odd Christian workers whom the Christian Council of Churches sought to celebrate as T&T begins to observe 50 years of Independence. We, Mausicans, can look forward to a great 50th year.

Errol,
Mausica Weekly Emails get better and better all the time.
Thanks  for forwarding articles of interest . I refer to the Email from Alphonsus Antoine and Richie Donald  entitled " Valuable Information". It  raised the awareness and praised the use of Coconut oil in the diet . I will certainly try it out on my 88 yr. old mother who is getting rather forgetful lately.
I can't wait for Reunion 1013 and  glad that we are incorporating days in Tobago as well. it is only fitting to do so. We are Trinidad and Tobago .
Stay blessed.
Myrdith Brumant. (64-66 )

RE: Mausica50 2013

2012-Mar-07-2132Hrs
On the 27th February 2012, 20 Mausicans met at "Paraiso" a mini-paradise owned by Gerard Narinesingh located just off Claxton Bay.  This was a meeting to begin the conversation about the 50th Anniversary Reunion.  There were Local Trinis and Foreign Trinis who were here for d 'mas.  Brenda Alexander; Mennen Walker-Briggs; Joan Parris-Brathwaite; Cuthbert Matthews; Claudina Cudjoe; Clare Creese; Woodley; Finbar Ryan; Angela McAlister; Claudia Taylor; Jemma Jordan; Carol Reveillac; Ajodha Sookhoo; Errol Lashley; Monty Chapman; Fareeda Chapman; Conrad Thomas; Terrance Walker; June Raphael Martin; Winston Yallery-Arthur; Yvonne Pilgrim; Anna Maria Mora; Gerard Narinesingh. (Felix Edinborough sent his apologies: he was really saddened at not being able to attend).
Gerard was so happy to have us.  I think that it was divine intervention that I met Gerard when I did. The meeting began with a prayer and the first order of business was settling the dates.  THE DATES FOR THE MAUSICA REUNION IN 2013 :
JULY 19TH - 26TH 2013-- WITH THREE OF THOSE DAYS IN TOBAGO. We need to touch base with Tobago to finalise those three days. Tentatively we have Sunday 21st - to return on Wednesday 24th.  We are thinking that we would like to get in the "Ole Time Wedding" in Moriah.  Tobago to advise.
Other suggestions to be worked out by the committee:  Educational Workshop; a Day at the Mausica Compound; The History of Mausica, which was never written (Ithree names in the mix for this are Joy Valdez, Linda Romain and Pat Allum Ryan);  A Supplement in one of the weekend newspapers; Adopt a School;
We must also try as much as possible to get in touch with lecturers and workers who were with us through the years.
Bernice Warrick Tarradath has agreed to be our lliason in New York
Brenda Perez-Alexander, our lliason in Canada
Megan Welch, our lliason in Grenada
Of course we have Elinor King, Jasper Joefield, Alan Clovis and Eastlyn Mckenzie in Tobago
Joan Brathwaite (South) and Anna Maria Mora (Nor'East)  Jemma Jordan (West)
The food was delicious and catered.  All who attended made a contribution to the catering and more, so we were able to keep our $$ made at the Christmas get-together. Thank you so much Joan for getting the caterer.
Gerard has offered his "estate" to us anytime that we need it. Thank you so much, Gerard.
Brenda sent the pics. for you to get a real feel for the joy and camaraderie.  We will continue to update you as we continue our meetings to finalise all the details.
Anna Maria Mora

Re: MAUSICA WEEKLY EMAILS

2012-Mar-02-1632Hrs
Thanks for the 'in touch' of nostalgia. I really do not know most of the people I read about, but just the name "Mausican" is so wonderful that I enjoy the notes anyhow. Memories of Grell Cup; Pineapple Smith;Choral speaking; Folk Swingers and Mrs.Cuffie ; Food fights when you never knew if to duck to the right or the left; Sports Day; Mrs Smuts; the weekend hostel parties; the unforgettable pot of pelau; running through the track; Lester and the famous $330.calypso; election time ...     I  have only fond and fun memories of Oh Mausica.  But A! A! How could I not mention the comical and bright Mr. Rapsey.     So much more... Congrats to all retired, and Specially to those who retired last year. The end of an era?  Not really...
I liked the Quiz sent by B. Gordon.  I only knew about 50% of the answers, but it was fun guessing.  Thanks.
I look forward to the Reunion in 2013. I attended one in Trinidad a long time ago.  Thanks to Sandra Lewis-Borde, I caught up with some of my peeps last year, and certainly do not want to miss the gatherings in 2013.   I am a '70-'72 graduate (Wingation), and retired last year.
Thanks again. Blessings.

I sadly announce the passing of the mother of Mausicans, Taylor (67-69?) and Isaac, Victor (73-75).  Both brothers reside in The USA.  Isaac was very present at our Big Apple reunion.  He is scheduled to travel to Trinidad tomorrow, Saturday March 3rd, for the funeral. The family lives at Vance River, Guapo, in the South.

Hi all!
I can now say that I've been there, done that. On Ash Wednesday I went to work at the Curriculum Division for the last time, since I proceeded on 46 days pre-retirement leave.
I have many memories of my time and times, but the most enduring is the Mausica experience.
I join my fellow retirees in another phase of life and wish them all the best.

RE: Claxton Bay lime

2012-Mar-01-1432Hrs
Thanks to Gerard, Anna Maria, Joan and our T&T based brothers and sisters who organised the lime in Claxton Bay for the "foreigners".  Paraiso could not have been a more appropriate location - it would be nice to have a function there for the 2013 reunion.  The food was delicous and plenty - congrats to our caterers.  We enjoyed the time re-connecting amid the planning which was the serious part of the agenda.
Here are my pictures.  As usual, Tom was snapping away and he promises to share his pics with us.
No pressure Tom, send the Big Apple pics, the Toronto Chistmas lime and Claxton Bay in one package.
