It is free and simple to open a Pay Pal account. Link it to your bank account and be sure to send the money as personal  (NOT Purchase )

RE: MAUSICA WEEKLY EMAILS

2011-JAN-28-0636Hrs
Hi Mausicans
I continue to be impresses by the level of dedication and timely updates from the Reunion 2011 committee.   It is no easy task and big " big up" to all concerned.
Irmine and Barbara, thanks for your response to my last blog entry... it would take a book to share what Fyzabad Intermediate gave to Trinidad.  I paraphrase as I recall Eric Williams who said that the future of the country is in the children's school bags.
Since last October, beginning with the death of Alphonsus ARROIW Cassell, Montserrat has experienced a "season" of high profile funerals:  Joseph Meade, Former Speaker of our Legislature,  John Alfred Osborne, longest serving Parliamentarian and Chief Minister over a long, though not continuous, period.  He had retired from politics before his death. Yester day, Noel Dadda Tuitt, also a former Parlimentarian, was laid to rest, and on Monday last,  James "Rapier" Meade who was " the slowest taxi/ minibus driver on the island"  received his last farewell.  I could not help thinking that it was fitting that he should experience someone else's slow driving as he was taken to the cemetery. I learnt so much about him in church that day... he was truly a man of great worth who filled many roles in his lifetime.
Montserratians abroad have also died and we always know because the funeral notices are sent to our local radio... they tune in too on www.zjb.gov.ms to keep up with what is happening here.   This island is such an amazingly wonderful place!  ps It is not unusual for those abroad to have their say from a distance whenever we have a phone in panel discussion!   Bye for now.

RE: NEWS from the Big Apple Reunion 2011

2011-JAN-25-0244Hrs
Errol, please publish ASAP. Thank you.
Hello Everyone,
We have  just received some new information that will prevent us from using the Grad Dorm for our Housing Accommodation in the Big Apple Reunion. Hofstra is turning the Dorm over to the Medical School for their first enrollment class.
Our apologies for the inconvenience. The Suite style  and Tower Housing are still available to us. We do recommend the Suite style accommodation.
Attached you will find the info regarding our Housing Accommodation that was sent out to you  in November last year.
For those who have already paid for the Grad Dorm accommodation, I will wait for your proposal.
For those people who are familiar with PAYPAL, a form of transfering money, I just want to let you know that it is okay to use this format if you so choose.
(a) It is free  (b) it must be transferred from your bank account (not a credit card) (c) It should be marked "personal" and NOT "purchase". (d) all u need is my email address.
Best regards,
Bernice "Buzzie" Tarradath

We are pleased to inform you that negotiations for hosting our BIG APPLE REUNION 2011 have begun with Hofstra University. This campus is conveniently located in Hempstead, Long Island and is close to the major international airports and just 40 minutes outside of New York City.   The following information is intended as an early guide towards your financial planning.  It must be remembered that these are Residence Hall facilities for Students.
Hofstra University has offered us three types of housing facilities:
(1)  SUITE STYLE HOUSING: (semi-private bathrooms)
Double Occupancy: US $43.00 per person, per night

We do encourage members to opt for our housing accommodation, even though we are aware that most people have relatives in Brooklyn. It helps to preserve the idea of “reunion” and to relive the “hostel” days of yesteryear! We hope to provide transportation to our scheduled activities in Manhattan and the surrounding areas.
We also want to give you additional information regarding hotels or guest houses within proximity to Hofstra University with varying rates for those who might be interested. Rooms can accommodate 2 to 3 persons.
The following are:

Tel# 516-794-2100

RE: poems

2011-JAN-22-1533Hrs
Hi Pat,
It's good to find out how much you enjoyed the reciting. I continued that system down to my last days as a teacher. Commiting words to memory is a great brain stimulator. A few years ago at a tea party a prize was offered to any of the party goers who was brave enough to sing or recite. I grasped the opportunity to recite The Glove and The Lions and got the prize. My children did not learn poems at school, but they studied them.I've been a judge at choral speaking competitions for the past few years. It was a pleasure doing so. Hope these competitions continue.

This is specifically for Pat Allum.  The good old days of Fyzabad Inter.  Memories galore.  Under Ms Wordsworth in Standard Three we had to dramatize 'The Sands o' Dee.'
'O Mary, go and call the cattle home, and call the cattle home, and call the cattle home across the sands of dee'.
The western wind was wild and dank with foam, and all alone went she. .......
I think the class was Choral Speaking.  In retrospect, what a wonderful preparation for public speaking  for your posture and enunciation had to be perfect.
I saw Ms Telemaque at a Christmas luncheon last December. As stately and articulate as ever.  And would you believe, the same hair style.  Only this time the hair is grey.

Another highlight of my stay in TNT was visiting Mrs. Cuffie on her birthday, Jan 6th.

On arriving at De Cuff, we met  Barbara Walker Davis. Gwen Williams joined us ah little later. Boy, ah start tuh sing Sweetman Doray like how Elmo use tuh sing it.. De Cuff an de girls join in. It was vintage Mausica.. Barbara had copies of de program from de 2003 reunion with de words for La Porrinden,  Boca Chimes, Departure, Lead Kindly Light and Oh Betina. Yuh shoulda hear Daphne singing from memory while we reading from de program.  It was a wonderful time.
On Sunday de 9th, ah had ah lil lime in Dinsley. It was ah mini Mausica reunion. Ah cyar wait fuh New York.. Present were Lynnette Thompson, Farida Chapman, Lloyd Brown, Leslie Greenidge, Carl Caton, Andre Stephens, Clive Grell and Anthony Dalton Taitt..

RE: MAUSICA WEEKLY EMAILS

2011-JAN-15-1611Hrs
Wow!  people were really blogging last week!  My sisters Emily and Greta are visiting and we have been reminiscing about Primary school days at Fyzabad Inter ( Irmine Mc kenzie take note) Those were the days when we had to read aloud and recite a poem for 50 marks each at end of term exams...  Performances I enjoyed in particluar were Alston Salandy who wowed us with a poem featuring ayoung soldier bringing news to Napoleon... dramatic and full of action, and the soft voiced Marjorie Harris who recited Wordsworth's To a butterfly... can't remember what I did!  can't have been as memorable!
We went on to discuss and Google  The Glove and the LIons, Sands of Dee, The beggar maid and Lord Ullin's daughter... great fun declaiming them to boot.  That school was a most memorable part of my life, along with MTC of course. All the best to everyone for 2011.
