RE: Remembering Clifton DeCoteau

2021-FEB-11-2359Hrs

MTC Annual Athletic Meeting - Friday, March 19th, 1965.

First meeting involving both first and second year students.

Winner of the 100 yards - Clifton De Coteau; 2nd Gilmore Stephens; 3rd either Yallery-Arthur or Dudley Dickson.

(Rick, can you confirm)?

At the next assembly I had to explain to Mr Joseph how we allowed a first year student to defeat a second year. I told him that Clifton was pretty fast. He smiled. I’m his mind he was already thinking that Mausica an even stronger relay team to compete with the other teachers’ colleges.

At the same meet, Clifton was anchoring his hostel in the 4x100 relay, and he made up a big lead to nip the Fairhaven anchor at the finish line.

Excitement was in the air. Hey Another first year victory. I still remember the finish. I was running the anchor leg for FairHaven.

If you have additional info or corrections, please send them in to the Blog.
