Re: Fwd: MAUSICA WEEKLY EMAILS 2016-AUG-23

You know - it is such a small world! When in 1970 or thereabouts the Alumni Choir went to Jamaica and Antigua and the Christina on its way from Antigua to Nevis sank. I joked that I could have been on that boat because I was thinking of fulfilling my life long dream of visiting Nevis and going over there from Antigua. He responded that he too could have been on that boat. Then I remembered his aunt who lived with him and her surname was Small and she was from Nevis as my grandmother whose surname was also Small. It is to my eternal regret that on one of my visits to her with other students I did not take the opportunity to question her because back then I did suspect that there was a connection so I asked him who were the relatives he wanted to visit in Nevis? His reply was - the Smalls and the Byrons who are the same ones I wanted to visit. I did speak to Mt Williams about it recently and it turns out that we are indeed related. As Johnny Mathis did say/sing - Small world isn't it!!!!!

So, so wonderful Maria!
Visiting Dr. Williams is always a joy. The topic of  conversation is invariably about Mausica and his reminiscences are proof of a remarkable memory at age 99.
God's willing, we look forward to Mr. Williams's 100th. birthday.
Hope to visit Mrs. Cuffie soon.

RE: The Wall

This wall was the subject of our conversation about Mausica.  He also said that he reads without glasses. He uses glasses only when he had to write. I looked at Mr Williams in awe. Maria

Went to see Mr Williams and took copies of my books for him. Spent sometime with him. He did remember Maria Mora. Of course, he remember a young man who was "President, wasn't he?" Of course it was Noel T. Duncan and he asked about Fou, said that they were like his sons. He took care of them as sons. There was a wall opposite him designed with those slate type stones. He asked me if I knew what was behind there. Then he said those were used in Mausica. There was another wall behind me and he pointed to them and said 'those are more modern." Really amazing man.
