Condolences

2011-Nov-24-1717Hrs
Hello Errol,
Please post. Have a good day.
Rodney and Marjorie Foster

"My Friend and Sister, Carol Burnette Cook
Marjorie and I send our sincerest condolences to the Burnettes and Cooks.
I first met Carol at MTC in 1966.  What a time!
Carol was a model student. She possessed all the qualities of a true, true Mausican. She excelled in academia, helped others and found time to participate in several extra-curricula activities: the choirs, Student Government, fetes and liming. Carol was bright fuh days.  She simplified Maths for many a fellow- student. Like most of her girlfriends from South and Central, Carol was an excellent dancer and sharp dresser. She had de fellas lining up tuh dance ah bolero or ah bossa nova. Like Maria Mora says, carol was “like salt”. In everything.
After graduating from MTC, Carol lived the Mausica motto, “Molding a nation through service.” In addition, her home was open to her Mausican family. Ah lime by Carol was always ah winner. Carol Burnette Cook was ah good cook. Her husband, Raymond , and  the children were always hospitable.
Ask Irma Charles, meh brother-in-law, Courtney, and meh wife,  Marjorie, about the tasty buss up shut, curry chicken, potato and channa and curry mango we had at the Cooks many years ago. Ms. Woods woulda give Carol ah A+.
Thank you Carol for touching our lives. Your distinct voice and endearing personality will never be forgotten. May you rest in peace and rise in glory.
Sincerely,
Rodney and Marjorie Foster
Stone Mountain, GA"

My deepest and most sincere condolences and prayers go out to Carol's family, especially to her husband and my friend, Ray, and our sister Mausican, Magnell. l know Magnell and Carol shared a very special relationship.  I myself have known her since high school days..we lived in the same area (Cocoyea) and had a few friends in common.  I was very saddened when I got the news but know she is in a better place after her long struggle with her illness.  We will miss you, Carol.

Hi Erroll,
I always read and enjoy the blog. However, I am truly moved to place my first response on reading the sad news about a truly remarkable lady. The many times we met were at Church meetings, after leaving Villa Nova. My deepest regards to her family as I pray that she finds everlasting peace.

Dear All 1966 - 68 Mausicans,
My condolences are extended firstly to the family, husband Raymond, children, grand children and close family and relatives of Carol Burnette - Cook and then to us the Mausican family  of 1966-68, at the passing of one our female stalwarts and leaders.
I too am deeply saddened and with Agatha, Inez and the others share the loss of a true friend and an educator par excellent.
We can never understand or ever come to terms with the passing of a loved one, yet on the other hand  we can still be thankful for the joy and pleasure of having known her and then be comforted by the God of all comfort who understands our pain and our tears at our loss..
May God's peace and comfort be with us all

Sadness yet again. My prayer for strength and peace goes out to Carol's family, which includes all of us, her Mausica Family.
Seeta, how r u? Here are details to date.
Mausica's 50th Anniversary will be held in 2013. We have not yet decided on a date. It will be held in Trinidad and Tobago.  Mausica Trinidad, decided to have a "A Trini Mini Lime" on 18th December 2011(this year), at Hilton Trinidad and Conference Centre from 12.00noon to 3.00p.m.  Tickets are priced at $350, and this begins the fund-raising activities that we will need to have if we are to successfully host the reunion in 2013. This Lime on 18th Dec. will bring together as many of us as possible to begin the conversation regarding putting plans in place for hosting this reunion in 2013. We have printed only 75 tickets to begin this journey.
You know how time flies and our international sisters and brothers need time to apply for leave etc etc so that they will be able to attend.  I am sure after discussion on 18th December (next month) we will have dates AND A PLANNING COMMITTEE,(emphasis mine, take the CAPS as loud bawl & scream in allyuh ears Trinis) so that we will be able to post  dates and begin preparations.
If I recall, you mentioned before that you will be coming to Trinidad for Christmas but after the 18th so that you will not be able to attend this Mini Lime. I am hoping that you have changed flight plans and are coming home before the 18th.  Keep in touch.  Feel free to share any concerns, Seeta.  Maria

Carol Burnette was always very helpful to her other relatives who were not as fortunate as her siblings, She made Maths easy when I had some difficulties many decades ago. The Norays from Toco share this great loss with her family and friends.
